NRA Gun Safety Seminar

To highlight the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential for selecting, safely handling, storing and cleaning a firearm.

NRA Basic Pistol Shooting

Course topics include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive the NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor.

NRA Pistol Marksmanship Simulator Training

This course teaches basic marksmanship fundamentals and firearm safety using a simulated pistol with a resetting trigger and laser to indicate where the shots hit. No range is needed with this simulator training course. With very little equipment, the NRA Pistol Marksmanship Simulator Training course teaches the fundamentals of sight alignment, trigger control, grip and breath control. At the completion of the course, an NRA participation certificate is awarded. Students may attend this course as a basis to decide whether or not they would like to follow-up by taking the full-length Basic Pistol course with live fire, or to simply learn to improve their marksmanship skills.

Basic Wilderness Survival

In this class, you will learn essential wildland skills like fire making, shelter building, and water purification, while also understanding equipment selection, clothing suitability for various conditions, and local flora and fauna for identifying edibles and hazards. The course covers trip planning, meal preparation, campsite setup, navigation, and emergency survival skills, blending theoretical knowledge with practical applications to boost your confidence in wilderness situations.

Intro. to Land Navigation

Learn the essentials of map and compass use, focusing on topographical maps and their symbols, which represent various terrains for navigation. You’ll discover how to use a modern compass and adjust for declination for accurate readings, enhancing your skills in diverse environments. Additionally, we’ll cover effective use of coordinates to determine your exact position and methods for achieving bearings from both maps and the surrounding landscape, integrating theory with practical application.

SABRE Civilian Pepper Spray

This three (3) hour SABRE Civilian Safety Awareness Program (CSAP) will teach you how to: • Identify and avoid dangerous encounters • Discourage an attacker Unfortunately, all dangerous encounters cannot be avoided, so CSAP will also teach you how to: • Use verbal commands & simple self-defense techniques • Effectively and responsibly deploy SABRE Pepper Spray • Escape an attacker You will become proficient and accurate with your SABRE pepper spray by deploying water-filled practice sprays at static targets as well as deploying the Practice Spray at your instructor during a simulated attack.

ALERRT Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (C.R.A.S.E.)

The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004, provides strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues, and considerations for conducting drills.

Stop The Bleed

What stops bleeding? In a Stop the Bleed course, you’ll learn three quick techniques to help save a life before someone bleeds out: (1) How to use your hands to apply pressure to a wound; (2) How to pack a wound to control bleeding; (3) How to correctly apply a tourniquet. These three techniques will empower you to assist in an emergency and potentially save a life.
